Here you will find links to the BEST Acadian-Cajun (both genealogy and NON-genealogy related) web sites, as well as general genealogical sites on the 'Net. Please feel free to add a link to your own main index.html web site. Be certain to add your link under the PROPER category, otherwise it may not be allowed. And don't forget to come back and "modify" your link, if the URL address changes, since obsolete links will be removed.
You may feel that your site should be listed under more than one category... and perhaps justifiably so. For example, perhaps your site includes genealogical information on both Acadian-Cajun and French-Canadian cultures. In such instances, I will allow multiple listings however, keep in mind that I personally review and validate every request for links and only process those requests which are legitimate.
In return for this "free" service, I would be very grateful if you could likewise add a link from your own site to my Acadian Genealogy Homepage, using the main URL address: http://www.acadian.org/ And, if you want to make it a "graphic link", just connect to http://www.acadian.org/graphics.html to source a graphic image of your choice.
Many thanks and God Bless,
Yvon Cyr

University of Fort Kent Maine Acadian Archives The Acadian Archives / Archives acadiennes is a regional history and cultural archives operated by the University of Maine at Fort Kent. We were established in 1989 by an act of the Maine State Legislature (L.D. 1552), and we opened to the public in July 1991. Our mission is to document, preserve, celebrate, and disseminate information about the history and cultural heritage of Maine's Saint John Valley. "The Valley" (as it is known locally) borders a 70-mile stretch of the Saint John River along the international boundary between the United States and Canada. Settled in the 1780s, it is home to a predominantly French population which traces its roots to Acadia and Québec. The Archives offers services in both English and French. |

Acadia University Anyone who has visited the campus has felt it - The Acadia Spirit. The grounds and the buildings are renowned for their beauty, but at Acadia you feel you are part of something bigger than just bricks and mortar. Acadian Spirit; The Legacy of Philippe d'Entremont Philippe d'Entremont was one of the first French immigrants to settle in the New World. Lieutenant to the Governor, Charles de la Tour, d'Entremont was an educated man whose privilege couldn't protect him from the harsh conditions of Acadia. The history of the d'Entremonts is the history of Acadia. A hundred years after Philippe's arrival, his family would be one of the last to leave during the Acadian Expulsion of 1755, and one of the first to return twelve years later. |
