Home of Acadian-Cajun & French-Canadian Family Resource, Surnames and Historical Information... since 1991.

Here you will find links to the BEST Acadian-Cajun (both genealogy and NON-genealogy related) web sites, as well as general genealogical sites on the 'Net. Please feel free to add a link to your own main index.html web site. Be certain to add your link under the PROPER category, otherwise it may not be allowed. And don't forget to come back and "modify" your link, if the URL address changes, since obsolete links will be removed.

You may feel that your site should be listed under more than one category... and perhaps justifiably so. For example, perhaps your site includes genealogical information on both Acadian-Cajun and French-Canadian cultures. In such instances, I will allow multiple listings however, keep in mind that I personally review and validate every request for links and only process those requests which are legitimate.

In return for this "free" service, I would be very grateful if you could likewise add a link from your own site to my Acadian Genealogy Homepage, using the main URL address: http://www.acadian.org/ And, if you want to make it a "graphic link", just connect to http://www.acadian.org/graphics.html to source a graphic image of your choice.

Many thanks and God Bless,

Yvon Cyr

JC's Genealogy Home Page
I have been doing family research for 20 years and have been successful in tracing my family's ancestors back several hundred years in some cases and only a few generations in others. I have documented direct descent lines, and those providing me with their data I have asked for copies of their documentation, or at least the location of their resources. Family histories on this site have been documented to the best of my ability.

In 1978, a small group of people in Jersey met to discuss the formation of a Society dedicated to the study and tracing of the family histories of Channel Islanders. The first meeting (Nov. 1978) was at St. Lawrence Parish Hall, Jersey and more than fifty people attended. Membership passed the one hundred mark during the next year. It was an early intention to form local CIFHS Branches in the other Channel Islands and elswhere but as time went on this proved impossible so the voluntary Officers in Jersey assumed the complete role of the CIFHS Committee.

Metis du Quebec
In 1645, the Metis are the majority in Acadia and control the fur trade at Fort Saint-Jen, erected along the river of the same name, on the actual territory of New Brunswick. The troops of Menou d'Aulnay and the men of the small French colony of Port Royal overtook the fort by assault. After a wild resistance, the defenders surrender to save their lives. But D'Aulnay hangs all of them on site, except one. The trail of their Indian or Metis wives were never discovered, unless it was just a handful among them who took refuge in the Indian communities.
